Does it ever seem to you that “all you ever needed to know you learned in kindergarten?” Saying “thank you” is one of those important life lessons. In the overstressed, busy world where many of us live and work, sometimes, saying thank you may not seem a high priority. At this time of the year, the calendar reminds us that we should be thankful. A recent post by Nancy Lublin for Fast Company reminds us to include everyone in our business circles in that thanks. She explains in her post:
Thanking people isn’t simply a matter of common courtesy. A 10-year study by leadership experts Adrian Gostick and Chester Elton of 200,000 managers and employees showed that saying “thank you” correlates with bigger profits. This isn’t surprising, because giving thanks is a great motivational tool; who doesn’t like to be thanked?
Think about it…Take some time to say thank you to someone this week. Consider offering an unsolicited LinkedIn endorsement, or a handwritten note. Even just a kind word or an email can mean a lot. Are you really too busy to say thank you?
